Veteran Market Dollars Program
Veteran Market Dollars Program
Honoring Veterans Through Local Agriculture and Farmers Markets
Celebrating our 7th year serving those who served us!
In 2018, Harry Weiser from Hackleboro Orchards brought forward a suggestion to the conservation district: to support veterans at our local farmers markets. Inspired by his son Dustin, a veteran farmer, we embarked on a program to honor veterans while backing our local farmers.
Through initial support from a private family foundation and sponsors, the program has flourished.
We are now present at farmers markets in Concord, Canterbury, Henniker, Wilmot, Contoocook, Danbury, and Franklin.
This initiative complements our other food security programs, such as the Granite State Market Match and our Gleaning program. The latter delivers fresh produce to senior centers, food pantries, and soup kitchens across the county.
Ensuring veterans have access to farm-fresh food supports their health, promotes community integration and acknowledges their service through tangible support for their well-being.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors whose generous support makes our program possible!
